The story Of CherYsh

We are CherYsh Trust, a Bangalore-based NGO that’s spent over a decade working alongside rural communities in Karnataka and Goa. We’ve been part of the journey not as outsiders with solutions, but as partners building pathways from learning to livelihood. With support from donors, partners, and government allies, we’re focused on one goal: ensuring rural children have access to digital education and women have access to sustainable income.

Junior Shiksha Sessions – Classroom learning, activity-based engagement, and student participation across centers.

CherYsh Trust onboarded M/s. Mukunda & Associates, Bangalore, to enhance financial governance, bookkeeping, statutory compliance, and vendor agreement verification.
Appointed M/s. Kulkarni & Co., Hubli, to manage payroll services, accounting processes, CSR audit support, and payment schedule tracking.

April 2025

CherYsh Trust formalized a major partnership with KLE Technological University, strengthening collaborative efforts in rural development, education, and innovation for women and youth in Haliyal.

CherYsh held a Governance Mini Board Meeting in Goa, demonstrating strong organizational accountability, leadership oversight, and structured decision-making for donors and partners.

Board member Dr. Zar Amrolia delivered an expert lecture at KLE, sharing global insights on careers in finance, technology, and entrepreneurship, inspiring students toward innovation and impact.
Board member Dr. Carolynn Cameron conducted an expert talk at KLE, focusing on future-ready leadership and essential skills for upcoming generations of business leaders.

I started as a junior Shiksha facilitator at CherYsh Trust and later became a computer facilitator. Despite initial challenges, training equipped me to teach computers to students, many from tribal communities. Teaching them requires patience. I’m grateful to CherYsh for bringing the program to this remote village. The villagers have embraced it, providing all the necessary support.

As a proud eShiksha program parent, I’m thrilled to see my daughter, Soumya’s, incredible progress. Before joining, she had no computer or technology experience. Now, she’s confident and skilled. Watching her work and enhance her tech abilities daily is wonderful. I’m fortunate Soumya had CherYsh’s eShiksha program.

In a small classroom, the eShiksha program began. Initially unfamiliar with computers, the children learned basics in a fun way. They used mice and explored Raspberry Pi tools for educational software. As weeks passed, they mastered tasks like typing, creating digital art, and coding simple programs. Their excitement grew as they discovered technology’s endless possibilities. CherYsh, a life-changing force in our villages, made this possible.

Initially unaware of computers, I assumed learning MS Word and Excel would suffice. However, CherYsh offered more than that. I discovered coding and computing, which ignited my passion. Seeing the LED light up after successfully coding filled me with pride and joy. I’m grateful for this chance to learn and grow.

Gautham is a management professional with experience across the corporate & development sectors, bringing a strategic & data-driven perspective to organizational growth & governance. He has expertise in strategy formulation, program effectiveness & evidence-based decision-making across Education, Natural Resource Management & Entrepreneurship.

He currently serves as Head – Strategy & Program Analysis at the Deshpande Foundation, Hubballi, strengthening program design, performance measurement & impact strategy. Earlier, he worked as a Project Lead at L&T Technology Services, Bengaluru, leading engineering initiatives for industrial product development.

He holds an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore & a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Visvesvaraya Technological University, Karnataka.
