CherYsh implemented a project in collaboration with Intel Corporation to provide Information Communication Technology (ICT) training for rural education in Haliyal. The project aimed to empower 20 women from remote and rural areas by training them in the use of computers and internet.

The training program started on July 25^th, 2019 at the multimedia classrooms of Deshpande Private Industrial Training Institute, Haliyal. The classrooms were well equipped with 20 computers and internet connectivity, providing the trainees with the latest technology.

The project aimed to provide the trainees with a foundational understanding of ICT, covering the basics of computer operations and internet usage. The training enabled the trainees to look at job opportunities within the technology sector and facilitate the availaibility of internet services to the farmers and inhabitants of Haliyal.

The project is a part of CherYsh’s commitment to empowering rural communities through education and technology. By bridging the digital divide, CherYsh is creating opportunities for rural women to develop new skills, access information and participate in the global digital economy.

I have been a Learning Facilitator with the Shiksha program for the past six years. After completing my 12th standard, my dream of continuing my education was not supported by my family, and I was instead married. However, joining CherYsh became a life-changing opportunity for which I am truly grateful. The joy of sharing knowledge and making a positive impact on the children’s educational journeys keeps me motivated every day. When I am with my students, the outside world fades away, and I am fully immersed in their learning.

As the Education Coordinator at the Block Education Office, I have had the privilege of collaborating with CherYsh for the past seven years. My introduction to CherYsh came when they expressed interest in training their Learning Facilitators in English. Given the educational challenges in the Taluk where CherYsh operates, we partnered to launch the Learning Facilitator Training Program, which has significantly supported many women in teaching English within the community. This initiative has not only addressed the education gap but also provided valuable employment opportunities for young women in the region.
