Junior Shiksha is a community-based after-school learning program designed to strengthen foundational literacy and numeracy among children in rural government schools. Operating across 40 villages in Haliyal Taluk, Uttara Kannada District, we provide the building blocks for lifelong academic success.
The program supports students in Standards 1–4 during their most critical developmental years. Our approach combines structured content with activity-based teaching to ensure long-term school readiness.4

A Women-Led Implementation Model
We believe that the primary driver of quality education is the person standing at the front of the classroom. Junior Shiksha is powered by local women, creating a dual impact of education and economic empowerment.
- Local Leadership: 40 local women are trained and employed as Learning Facilitators.
- Continuous Growth: We utilize modular training systems and peer mentoring through dedicated anchor centres.
- Skill Development: Our facilitators specialize in pedagogy, child safeguarding, and data-driven assessment administration.
