What we have done

  • The Shikshana Vikas Kendras have proved to be a source of support to the children as it is located close to their homes.
  • The regular chant of learning creates curiosity and parents are encouraged to send their children to the centre
  • Enrollment has increased from 20 to 50-60 per Kendra. Three neighbouring villages have requested to set up new centres
  • Attendance is regular, and over 80 per cent
  • NO dropouts from SVKs over year and half of programme
  • Community participation in programme has improved. Three SVKs are located in village homes.
  • 20 Women enrolled as teachers
    6 Trainings imparted to women
    30 Women Trained in English Language teaching
    40 Child leaders identified
  • Partnership with Akshara Foundation for content and teacher training

Stage 1
5-9 years, Class 1-4
Academic: Support to school curriculum. English Language learning. Basic Computer learning.
Life Skills: Nutrition, Hygiene, Civic Sense, Environment & Sustainability.

Stage 2
10-15 years, Class 5-8
Academic: Support to school curriculum. English Language learning. Basic Computer learning.
Life Skills: Nutrition, Hygiene, Civic Sense, Environment & Sustainability, Performing Arts, Sports, Crafts.

Stage 3
16-18 years, Class 8+
Academic: Support to school curriculum. Advanced English Language learning. Advanced Computer learning. Financial support/Scholarships.
Vocational / Skill Training*: Women's rights and duties, Active citizenship,Performing Arts (Music, Dance, Painting) Sport, Leadership skills. [PHASE I].
Life Skills: Nutrition, Hygiene, Civic Sense, Environment & Sustainability.
* Vocational / Skill Training is offered to students opting out of academics

Stage 4
18+ years, Diploma/Degree level
Academic: Diploma and Degree courses in nursing, physiotherapy, hospitality, hospital management. Financial support/Scholarships.
Vocational / Skill Training*: Rural entrepreneurship, Active citizenship, Basic Financial Management course, Performing Arts. [PHASE II]
Life Skills: Internships and employment. Environment & Sustainability.
